Catalyzing Environmental Leadership

NorthLight Foundation is developing and funding initiatives fostering new leadership and supporting existing leaders in support of the environment. NorthLight prioritizes partnerships in higher education, especially for those students who might not otherwise pursue this work, and seeks opportunities to support professionals engaged in important work in the field.

Mosaic environmental fund

Mosaic is a national collaborative funder and field catalyst supporting the environmental movement to expand its base of support and increase its collaboration and alignment, shifting from fragmented and reactive to pluralistic, adaptive, and powerful.

NorthLight Foundation is supporting the work of Mosaic to build and strengthen the leadership in the environmental movement.


THE NEw School

The Tishman Center at The New School leverages collaborative research, policy, and design to address the root causes of climate change and environmental injustice.

NorthLight Foundation is supporting the Tishman Environment and Design Center's Environmental Justice Movement Fellowship.


University of Michigan

The University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) works to build a more sustainable and just world for all by transforming the impact of higher education and reimagining the future. They are advancing action through innovation, research, education and engagement in society, and developing leaders who are empowered to halt the climate crisis and create an environmentally sound future for generations to come.

NorthLight Foundation is supporting the University of Michigan’s SEAS 2025 Alaskan Arctic research expedition.


The Tishman Center for Social Justice and the Environment at the University of Michigan works to transform education and research at U-M in service of undoing inequality and securing justice in the face of climate change and the transition to renewable energy.

NorthLight Foundation is also supporting the Tishman Center for Environment and Social Justice in the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability.
